Our program has 80 students, nearly 60 instructors, and 500 kids on the waitlist. We thank you in advance for considering donating to our cause, and are looking forward to hearing from you soon! Every donation, no matter how small, will put our program in a better position to secure the experience and the safety of our current students and those to come. We are so grateful for your support!
Why your donation matters:
As an entirely student-run, volunteer program, any donation given can help improve our program. Swim4Success has grown rapidly in the ten years since our program began here at Tulane: with over 500 kids on our waitlist, 80 kids currently enrolled, and just under 60 instructors, now is the time to push for a growth in resources. While we are so excited to have so many children and families hoping to swim with us, it is a stark reminder of how important the quality of our program is, and your donations can help us to ensure that we not only continue our service to our current students, but better it for those to come.
Swim4Success is a student-run, volunteer-based program on Tulane’s campus that provides weekly swim lessons at the Reily Center to low-income students in the New Orleans area who do not have access to a pool or basic swim instruction. Our program serves families looking to provide their kids with not only the life-saving, physical skills of swimming, but also an extra-curricular that promotes emotional and mental development through experiences such as bonding with instructors and providing nutritional snacks after lessons.
Where donations are headed:
The equipment and well-being of our program! While the Reily Center generously shares much of its aquatic equipment with us, our program caters to younger students, and we therefore provide smaller equipment, such as goggles and diving rings. We’d love to be able to expand this resource, as well as provide more personal products, such as swim caps. Your donation could help us achieve this goal.
The quality of our lessons! Swim4Success works hard to recruit the best and brightest of Tulane’s students to be instructors through an interview process each semester, and we then provide an orientation at the beginning of each semester to help settle our new instructors into the program. That being said, we’d love to push our instructors even farther by providing swim lesson instructor training through the Reily Center, and your donation could help pay for this. While many of our instructors have prior experience, having an even more thorough and cohesive training will undoubtedly improve the quality and consistency of our program.
