What do we aim to do?
The Tulane School of Medicine's Student Clinic Council (TUSOM SCC) needs your help to bring remote patient education to populations in need around the New Orleans area! Remote education is the perfect balance, allowing students valuable experience in educating patients on health topics and providing patients with an opportunity to learn about their health in a low stress environment. Being able to reach patients remotely is even more critical in the time of COVID-19, and our team is excited to be back at work educating patients.
Donations are applied to...
Monitors, simple computers, video cameras and microphones that the students can move between patient sites, allowing them to present to patients over Zoom without ever being in the same room. Our intent is to extend our program to as many of our 13 different clinic sites as possible, beginning with group education and extending to individual patient education and beyond.

Why are donations necessary?
It is a critical part of the TUSOM SCC's mission to help medical students become thoughtful, caring and effective physicians; we believe that giving students the tools to education patients on various, sometimes difficult, health topics is one of the best ways to lead medical students down the path to become those types of physicians. Additionally, TUSOM SCC likes to educate our students without causing undue burden to our various community partners. Many of the clinic sites we work at are currently unequipped to provide remote patient education programs, and in person programs are currently suspended due to COVID-19. Every little bit helps us establish ourselves at more sites.
