Why shoud I donate?
Participation in Heathers: The Musical will allow for interdisciplinary exploration of music, theatre, and dance that supports the development of students' creativity beyond the classroom. Heathers: The Musical will also foster conversations about pressing issues in our society such as mental health, school violence, and teen suicide. In light of this, we hope to include other student organizations in our process. This production will engage with the local theatre community as well as the larger New Orleans community. An open invitation will be extended for all to attend, from those who love the cult classic film the musical is based on to those who simply enjoy the arts. The rehearsal process itself will empower students to explore their passions through artistic pursuits. Heathers: the Musical will foster leadership as students will oversee crucial positions such as Director, Stage Manager, Musical Director, Choreographer, Production Designers, and more. Our casting process will be based on principles of diversity and inclusivity as we hope to involve people from all backgrounds and experience levels.

- Licensing and material fees: Samuel French, Inc., a publishing and licensing company for theatrical works, has given us a quote of $2,050 for licensing and materials fees to put on four performances of Heathers: The Musical This licensing gives us the right to legally produce the show and the materials include 1 Piano/Vocal Score and 18 Vocal Chorus Books.
- Musicians: Heathers: The Musical features a band which includes a reed instrument, trumpet, percussion, guitar, violin, and bass. We plan to have a live band and need to be able to compensate the musicians for their time in rehearsals and performances.
- Set and props:Heathers: The Musical takes us through the halls of Westerberg High School, a local 7-11, the bedrooms of multiple characters, a house party, a cemetery, and other locations. We need funds to be able to build a minimalist set and props which can represent all of these places.
- Costumes: Heathers: The Musical is set in the 1980's, which means fun period-piece costumes!

What is Heathers: The Musical?

As a musical, Heathers: The Musical is a fun and smart adaptation of a cult classic. As a project, Heathers: The Musical is a feat never before seen at Tulane: a fully-produced undergraduate musical.
Who are we?
Tulane University Performing Arts Society (TUPAS) is Tulane's organization dedicated to student-run theatre for the university community. We produce student-written and student-directed plays, themed nights of short scenes and more. We welcome students of all majors to act, write, design, costume, direct, stage manage-- the list goes on and on.
Tulane Musical Performance Organization (TMPO) is Tulane's musical theatre club. We strive to produce student-directed cabarets and musical theatre performances on a regular basis. TMPO's motto is "more performances for more students," so we aim both to create more musical theatre opportunities and to include as many people as possible in the process. TMPO welcomes all lovers of musical theatre, regardless of major or experience.
