Bone Appetite is a fundraiser for a club at Tulane called TUSTEP. TUSTEP stands for Tulane University Service-Dog Training and Education Program. Every year, we choose about six people to raise and train a potential service puppy through our two partner organizations: Canine Companions for Independence and United States Veterans Service Dogs. The puppies arrive at 2 months old and train and live for about 18 months with the students. The students teach the dog 30+ commands and socialize them to places such as classrooms, restaurants, and even planes. Bone Appetite hopes to help TUSTEP pay for dog food and treats for the next generation of puppies. These items are currently the greatest expense that our puppy raisers do not get refunded for. Puppy raising is time consuming and expensive, so we are hoping to raise enough money for at least 30 bags of food. A donation of $50 could purchase five bags of treats. Donate $50 today and receive a handwritten thank you note! A donation of $75 could purchase one bag of dog food. Donate $75 today and receive a handwritten thank you note! A donation of $125 could purchase one bag of dog food and five bags of treats. Donate $125 today and receive a thank you note with a picture of our pups! Why are donations necessary?
TUSTEP raisers dedicate a year and a half of their time to raise these future service dogs and we strongly believe that financial concerns should not stop a student from deciding to raise a puppy. These donations are necessary for our club to continue and to attract future amazing puppy raisers.
